Police: Woman charged with prostitution after sting at Salem spa
Salem — One woman was arrested on charges of prostitution at Ginseng Spa and Massage Tuesday following several months of investigation and an undercover operation, state police said.
Xiang Hua Jin, 49, of 32-01 Leavitt St., Apt. 4F, Flushing, N.Y., was charged Tuesday with two counts of prostitution and one count of practicing massage therapy without a license.
Police said they discovered that Jin performed an illegal sexual act for money after conducting an operation with an undercover officer around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Members of the Salem Resident Trooper's Office, State Police Troop K, and the Statewide Organized Crime Task Force then executed a search-and-seizure warrant, according to police.
Police said the monthslong investigation and resulting warrant began after "numerous anonymous complaints" from Salem residents and business owners.
A second woman also was charged Tuesday with practicing massage therapy without a license, according to police. They did not name the second woman.
