The top-ranked UConn women's basketball team concludes a brief two-game road trip on Wednesday night by facing No. 23 DePaul at McGrath-Phillips Arena in Chicago (7:30 p.m., FS1).

The Huskies (5-0) are fresh off a 79-31 victory at Chattanooga on Monday night while DePaul is 5-1, its lone loss coming against No. 4 Baylor (86-72) on Nov. 22.

"All I can ask these players is to be ultra-competitive," DePaul coach Doug Bruno told The DePaulia, the school's student newspaper. "That makes you have to have a very high-adversity quotient. They're going to force you into adversity. They're not only one of the best offensive teams in the country, they're always a great defensive team. They make it hard for you to find shots, much less get looks.

"They're just a really strong defensive team, and you have to have a toughness about you to be able to handle mentally all the duress they're going to throw at you."

Bruno and UConn coach Geno Auriemma are good friends. Bruno, in fact, is an assistant to Auriemma on the USA women's national team. That also make Bruno familiar with the Huskies' best player, 6-foot-4 forward Breanna Stewart, a member of that national team who is averaging 17.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game thus far.

But UConn is more than just Stewart. All-American point guard Moriah Jefferson is averaging 12.4 points, junior forward Morgan Tuck is averaging 14.4 points, junior guard Kia Nurse is averaging 10.2 points and sophomore forward Gabby Williams is averaging 8.3 points and 5.7 rebounds.

"That's a great group of talent," Bruno said. "But you have to come at the talent and not back down, and compete with the talent. What happens then is going to happen. That's what fearlessness is. You can't be afraid of people."

Bruno is 0-11 lifetime against the Huskies, including a 98-64 loss last December.

Following the DePaul game, UConn returns home for another nationally-televised game against No. 3 Notre Dame at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs (5:15 p.m., ESPN). UConn officials announced on Tuesday that the game has been sold out in advance.
