Springfield officials, business leaders tour MGM casino site

More than 30 elected officials and business and community leaders joined casino executives Tuesday in touring the construction site for MGM Springfield, the $950 million resort casino being built in Springfield, Mass.

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno and City Council President Michael Fenton were among those who got a first-hand look at the site, where workers began demolishing a former school last week.

City officials, who have yet to approve changes in the project's original design, including the elimination of a 25-story hotel tower, are reviewing the site plan over the next two weeks and may act on it Jan. 26.
