New London taxpayers taking it on chin

According to a Day report a few years ago, New London has 79 churches and religious holdings. Recently, several more places of worship have been granted with one now pending before the Zoning Board. All of nonprofit status.

Some home have also been put on a non-taxable status. This with all the other properties we have in this city of 6.5 square miles, nearly 50 percent.

But after 27 years the city has eliminated the $1,500 reduction given to my late husband because he was not in any war. Meanwhile, our property values have done nothing but decrease.

When can the taxpayers expect another increase?
