Waterbury day care worker charged after toddler breaks arm

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) — A worker at a Waterbury child care center is facing charges after a 3-year-old girl went home with a broken arm.

Adnelly Moipard is charged with third-degree assault and other offenses in connection with the girl's injury, which occurred late last month.

The girl's mother says her daughter's arm was hanging awkwardly when she went to pick her up, so she brought the child to the hospital, where arm fractures were confirmed.

Police say the 60-year-old Moipard is seen on security video grabbing and dragging the girl by the arm.

Moipard tells WFSB-TV that the girl was misbehaving and denied dragging her. She says the girl was throwing books and hit her arm on a bookcase.

Moipard is free pending her next court appearance.
