With President Donald Trump scheduled to be out of the country the same week as the graduation ceremonies for the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Military Academy, there is speculation that he could deliver the keynote address at the Coast Guard Academy's 2017 graduation on May 17.

The Coast Guard Academy invited Vice President Mike Pence to be this year's commencement speaker but still hasn't confirmed a speaker, according to spokesman David Santos. The academy usually has made the announcement by this time.

A spokeswoman for the White House said by phone Wednesday evening that Trump's attendance at the Coast Guard Academy's graduation is not confirmed, and that she wasn't sure when, or if, his attendance would be confirmed.

President Barack Obama spoke at the Coast Guard Academy's graduation in 2011 and again in 2015.

Typically, presidents address the graduating class at one of the federal service academies on a rotating basis. Based on that rotation, Trump was due to speak at the Naval Academy's 2017 graduation. A spokeswoman for the Naval Academy said by phone Thursday that the school has confirmed a yet-to-be-announced commencement speaker, but that person is not the president.

The Military Academy has not confirmed its graduation speaker and might not make that announcement until May 1, according to a spokeswoman there.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy's graduation is on June 17. The academy has not announced a speaker. In 2006, President George W. Bush became the first U.S. president to speak at the school's graduation.

The Air Force Academy on Wednesday announced Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr. as its commencement speaker.

Trump reportedly is scheduled to attend a NATO meeting in Brussels on May 25, and the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Taormina, Sicily, May 26-27.

Air Force cadets will graduate on May 24, Naval Academy midshipmen will graduate May 26, and West Point cadets will graduate on May 27.
