Waterford — The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has announced that the environmental impact evaluation developed for Seaside State Park is available for public review and comment in advance of a July 31 public hearing.

Such evaluations analyze environmental impacts of a given project and must be conducted for certain projects involving state funding, under the Connecticut Environmental Policy Act.

The former Seaside Regional Center site is slated to become a 32-acre state park. The evaluation looks at four potential state park plans: a destination park, a passive park, an ecological park or a hybrid park, which is a fusion of the other three.

The document is available for public view in person at the Waterford Town Hall Clerk's office, 15 Rope Ferry Road; the Waterford Public Library, 49 Rope Ferry Road; or at DEEP headquarters in Hartford.

The public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 31, at the Waterford Town Hall. Comments on the evaluation can be made to Deep.seasideEIE@ct.gov and will be accepted until Aug. 11.
