    Lyman Allyn displays newly acquired works

    Since 2015, the Lyman Allyn Art Museum has been acquiring modern and contemporary art (over 200 pieces total) to display throughout its permanent collection. Thirty of those pieces are now on view to the public for the first time as part of the museum’s exhibition “What’s New? Modern and Contemporary Art at the Lyman Allyn.” The works include a variety of subjects and styles and prominently feature pieces by renowned artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, David Hockney, Bruce Nauman and Nan Goldin, among other established and emerging artists from the second half of the 20th century to the present. The show opened on Saturday and will run through April 1. The museum is at 625 Williams St., New London. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues.-Sat., 1-5 p.m. Sun.
