EMPLOYMENT

Amy Jagaczewski, P.E., of GNCB Consulting Engineers, P.C. of Old Saybrook has been promoted to Associate. Jagaczewski specializes in the investigation, analysis and rehabilitation of historic structures, and is an active member of the Association for Preservation Technology International. Her work includes academic, religious, cultural, institutional, and commercial projects. Recent projects include the adaptive reuse of Holdredge Garage in Westerly and the reconstruction of St. Michael Church in Pawcatuck. She has a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Northeastern University, and an M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Connecticut.

Local Realtors convened in Norwich recently for the Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors to install its officers and directors for 2018. The new ECAR president is Mathew Lisee, Capital Property Group, LLC in Gales Ferry, and a resident of Baltic. The outgoing president is Marilyn Lusher, of RE/MAX. The other officers are president-elect Ryan Lajoie, treasurer Greg Hanner and secretary Paula Turley. Matthew Morrell, VP, Retail Lending Sales Manager at Chelsea Groton Bank, was recently selected as a New Leader in Banking by the CT Bankers Association and Connecticut Banking Magazine. GIVING

For the second consecutive year, Charter Oak Federal Credit Union will be awarding $90,000 in college scholarships this spring to students in New London and Windham counties. The credit union will accept scholarship applications through Thursday, March 15. Hair Cuttery is kicking off the 19th year of its philanthropic Share-A-Haircut campaign. Since 1999, the Share-A-Haircut program has donated more than 2.28 million free haircut certificates valued at nearly $37.5 million to various causes. This February’s campaign will take place Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 5-6 with the goal of giving thousands of haircuts to the homeless.

For every haircut purchased on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6, a free haircut certificate will be donated back to a homeless adult or child in the community. To distribute the certificates to those in need, Hair Cuttery is partnering with local shelters and community organizations.

The award of $4,700 in grants from the Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation have been made in support of arts and cultural projects, according to Kevin Merchant, president and CEO of Jewett City Savings Bank. The Preston Historical Society received $3,000  to replace window units of the historical Long Society Meeting House located in Preston. The Finnish American Heritage Society in Canterbury will use its $500 award to upgrade and redesign museum and library areas to improve the presentation of items and artifacts for members and community education and research. Also, the Killingly Historical and Genealogical Society in Danielson was awarded $200 for materials to build a shelving unit for the storage of museum displays. Performing Arts of Northeast Connecticut in Pomfret received an annual support grant of $1,000 that helps to continue to bring musical performances to elementary school students.
