Accidental Seabirds perform in 33 Club Thursday with Daphne Lee Martin

Not sure whether New Jersey’s Accidental Seabirds landed in New London intentionally or not, but they’re playing 33 Club Thursday with hometown headliner Daphne Lee Martin.

Based on their fetching “The Greenhill Spill” album, the ‘birds seem to enjoy folks like XTC, the Decemberists, Midlake, Pilotdrift and even acoustic Jethro Tull. The important thing is that Accidental Seabirds definitely have their own intriguing sound.

As for Martin, see her now before she heads out on a two-month tour headed west — which is just one of her many projects. The arts web site Pop-Break just debuted Martin’s wonderfully creative version of the Talking Heads’ “This Must Be the Place,” which will be part of a released-in-autumn collection of stand-alone covers called “Fall On Your Sword.” Expect tantalizing hints as well as a wealth of greatness from her expansive catalog.
