The idea of a “house band” has resonated in a big way since an early ’60s quartet called the Beatles set up a residency at a German venue called the Cavern Club. In that spirit, consider Groton’s excellent Sneekers Cafe. Once a month, on Sunday afternoons, the Sneekers House Band — ax wizards William Light and Jay Dempsey, bassist Dan Solomons, keyboardist Dan Sherer and drummers Doug Church & John Van Ness — assemble and demonstrate their collective years of musical excellence. Even cooler? At each performance, different area luminaries are invited to share the stage. At Sunday’s show, guitarist Thor Jensen (Thor Jensen Jazz Organization, Incognito Sofa Love, Quiet Life) and vocalist Amie Coffey (Green Tea, Sunday Gravy) will sit in. Enjoy!
