East Lyme group performs 'Seussical the Musical'

East Lyme Regional Theater is staging "Seussical the Musical" this weekend at East Lyme High School, with shows at 7 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Erin Sousa-Stanley is the director/choreographer, and Chris Stanley is the musical director.

In "Seussical The Musical," Tony-winning songwriters Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty re-tell of the famous works of Dr. Seuss through song and dance. With help from The Cat in the Hat (played here by Cory Candelet), audiences meet some of Seuss' famous characters, including Horton the Elephant (Jaron Wilbur), Gertrude McFuzz (Natalie Andrews), Mayzie La Bird (Emily Young) and little JoJo (Patrick Conaway), a young boy with a fantastic imagination.

East Lyme Regional Theater was founded in 2011 and is sponsored by East Lyme Parks and Recreation.

Tickets are $12 for students and seniors and $15 for adults. They can be purchased in advance at Carelot, Flanders Fish Market and East Lyme Parks and Recreation. For more information, visit eastlymeregionaltheater.com or call (860) 460-1001.
