Violent Mae in concert in New London

There's a decided and lovely melancholy to the songs of indie-pop duo Violent Mae, who perform Saturday in New London's Oasis Pub. Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Becky Kessler and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Kellog, Violent Mae released its self-titled debut on New London's Telegraph Recordings label last year, and the album has steadily marched up the national college rock charts.

The band and album also earned a cachet-building hurrah from Paste Magazine, and VM was voted Best New Band in the 2014 CTNow.com music poll.

It's a great bill at the Oasis with Fatal Film and Today Junior also performing.

Bonus time: prior to the Oasis show, at 4 p.m. in the Telegraph Record Shop, Violent Mae will pre-record a special episode of The Day's "Live Lunch Break" concert series - so, indeed, it's possible to get a double-dip of winsome melody.
