Pfizer declares 28 cent dividend

Pfizer Inc. said Thursday that its board of directors agreed to a 28-cent cash dividend in the second quarter.

It was the 306th consecutive dividend paid out by the company. The payout will be payable June 2 to shareholders of record at the end of business May 8.

Pfizer paid a 26-cent dividend for each quarter of last year.

“In 2014, we returned nearly $12 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases,” said Ian Read, Pfizer's chairman and chief executive officer, in a statement issued during the company's annual shareholders meeting.

Among other business, shareholders reapproved 11 director nominees for one-year terms.
