Old Saybrook — Infiltrator Systems Inc., a technology company that manufactures products to deal with septic and stormwater issues, announced Thursday that the company has been sold to the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.

Teachers’, the largest single-profession pension plan in Canada with $154.5 billion in assets, said it is renaming of the company Infiltrator Water Technologies LLC. The company, with nearly 400 employees worldwide, had previously been owned by private equity firm Graham Partners Inc. and was established in 1987.

“Infiltrator is excited about this opportunity for continued growth and diversification,” said Roy Moore, Infiltrator’s president and chief executive, in a statement. “The updated name helps to better define and communicate the company’s strategy to provide innovative products to effectively manage all forms of water.”

With headquarters at 4 Business Park Road, Infiltrator holds 74 active and pending patents and is considered a leader in developing technologies related to septic systems and stormwater retention and detention.

“The Infiltrator team built the world’s largest injection molding machine in-house which produces the largest injection molded part in the world,” according to a release.

Infiltrator’s subsidiary, Champion Polymer Recycling, uses recycled plastics in its Winchester, Ky., manufacturing facility.

Products tied to Infiltrator include the Quick4 and Arc brands, IM-Series injection molded tanks and the StormTech products to handle stormwater issues.
