    Next Southeastern Connecticut Cultural Coalition summit focuses on facilities

    The management of cultural facilities will be the topic of the Southeastern Connecticut Cultural Coalition's next summit from 9:15 to 11 a.m. Nov. 10 at Charter Oak Federal Credit Union's Waterford headquarters.

    "Our panel of experts will share insight and professional knowledge about topics ranging from property management, cultural facilities standards, planning & budgeting, and the value of investment in facilities on the arts & cultural sector and, by extension, our economy," according to a cultural coalition release.

    Panelists at the credit union's Community Room at 1055 Hartford Tpke. will include Kristina Newman-Scott, director of culture for the state Department of Economic & Community Development, and Cmdr. Jeffrey Barta, deputy for museum system operations, Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington, D.C., which oversees the Submarine Force Library and Museum in Groton among other naval museums.

    Other panelists will be Ken Wilson, director of facilities at Mystic Seaport Museum, and Charles Mueller, senior director of Centerbrook Architects & Planners.

    A question-and-answer session will follow the formal panel discussion. Breakout sessions with individual panelists also will be offered.

    About The Rising Tide Series - a series of 'Cultural Conversations' and 'Cultural Summits.'

    Cultural Conversations are designed to bring together like minds, like missions and like projects from around the region. This series is free and open to registered Coalition partners only.

    Cultural Summits, will bring together regional leaders and experts for informative panel discussions, presentations and educational forums. This series is free and open to Coalition partners as well as prospective partners.

    Arts, cultural and historic partners in the region represent a diverse cross section from small organizations and individual artists to libraries, historical societies and large tourist attractions. Both nonprofit and for-profit organizations are part of the creative sector. With the purpose of uniting the region, Coalition Partners also include theaters, galleries, educational institutions, military officials, municipalities, elected officials, economic development groups, planners, tourism agencies, and chambers of commerce located in and/or serving southeastern Connecticut. Individual artists need not live in the region to become a Partner.
