Old Lyme businessman named to port board

Old Lyme businessman John Johnson is among four people nominated by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy to the newly constituted Connecticut Port Authority board of directors

The quasi-public agency, created in 2014 to develop and market the state's three major ports, including New London, is expected to make plans for gaining maximum economic benefits from the state's ports and maritime economy.

The other two deep-water state ports are in Bridgeport and New Haven.

Malloy's other nominations announced Wednesday were Nancy DiNardo of Trumbull, chair of the state Democratic Party; Pamela Elkow of Redding, a practicing attorney, and Parker Wise of Branford, general counsel for American Cruise Lines.
