Conn's Marcucci, Murphy honored by NESCAC

Sophomore goalie AJ Marcucci of Connecticut College was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Year in men's soccer and Camels coach Kenny Murphy was named NESCAC Coach of the Year.

Marcucci leads NESCAC goalies with a .937 save percentage and has allowed just four goals this season. Of his 11 wins, 10 were shutouts. Marcucci was the NESCAC Rookie of the Year last season. Murphy, in his 10th season at Conn, was voted to the award by his peers. Murphy led the Camels to the No. 2 seed in the NESCAC tournament and Conn is playing in the NCAA Division III tournament for the second straight year.

Joining Marcucci on the first team from Conn were senior forward Uzii Dieng, senior midfielder Ben Manoogian and sophomore defender Liam Donelan. Old Lyme's Luke Nguyen, a senior midfielder for Amherst, was also selected to the first team.

Kat Norton of Conn College was a second-team selection to the NESCAC women's soccer team. Norton is a sophomore forward.
