    Next Concert in the Garden is Sunday

    Hiroya Tsukamoto

    Hiroya Tsukamoto will perform at the next installment of the Concert in the Garden series on Sunday, March 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lief Nilsson Spring Street Studio & Gallery, 1 Spring St., Chester. Erik Simon Vuoritie will open the show. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the start of the show.

    Tsukamoto is a guitarist and composer originally from Kyoto, Japan. He began playing banjo when he was 13. In 2000, he received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and came to the U.S. Since then, he has been performing internationally and has made appearances with his group at Blue Note in New York. He has also released five albums as a leader.

    Simon Vuoritie started banging on drums at age 2 and began classical guitar study at 5. Now, a 17-year-old student at Westbrook High School, he plays a combination of classical, Spanish, and Latin American guitar music along with his classical-inspired arrangements of Beatles and popular melodies.
