Jonathan Edwards Winery celebrates 14th annual Harvest Festival

Imagine the scenario: you're enjoying an autumn celebration in a beautiful vineyard. There's vino, of course – delectable wine-tastings from exquisite vintages – along with food trucks, face- and pumpkin-painting, an airbrush tattoo artist, hayrides, live music and ...

... at the penultimate moment, a magical rite is performed and Bacchus, the Roman God of the Vine, majestically appears in a billowing cloud of purple smoke.

    It's magnificent!

You've witnessed a divine invocation to an ancient deity!

    That calls for more wine!

Well, except for the raise-a-god part, all of this fun happens this weekend when the Jonathan Edwards Winery celebrates its 14th annual Harvest Festival. Sugah Rush provides the tunes Saturday and Sugar plays on Sunday.

Harvest Festival, noon-6 p.m. Sat. and Sun., Jonathan Edwards Winery, 74 Chester Main Road, North Stonington; $25 a day advance, $30 a day at the gate, children under 12 free with an adult; (860) 535-0202.
