Nik Wallenda debuts his Zirkus at Foxwoods
It was a little over a year ago that Nik Wallenda ever-so-carefully walked on a tightrope strung from Foxwoods' Rainmaker Garage to its newly opened Tanger Outlets. The wind puffed and swirled, but it was no match for Wallenda, who gracefully made his way across the wire that was suspended 75 to 80 feet in the air.
Well, Wallenda is back at Foxwoods. He's inside this time, but his work promises to be no less "ooh-and-aah"-inducing. He is staging the premiere performances of "Nik Wallenda's Zirkus" in the Fox Theater from June 29 through July 4.
Zirkus is circus in German, and Wallenda says, "This show is like Cirque du Soleil meets Ringling Brothers meets Blue Man Group."
In other words, it's a variety show of sorts that features Wallenda along with circus performers from around the world. Wallenda, who has walked on wires over the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls, is a member of the famed Flying Wallenda family. Each "Zirkus" will culminate in a creation of the Wallendas' seven-person pyramid atop tightropes.
