A jack of trades: Whitney Cummings comes to Foxwoods for standup comedy/book tour

Have you ever heard of the CBS comedy series “Two Broke Girls”? Yes? If you think it is funny, you might want to consider seeing Whitney Cummings, co-creator of “Two Broke Girls,” comedian, actor, and writer, perform her version of standup at Foxwoods this Friday.

Her comedy specials have been aired on the likes of Comedy Central and HBO, while on the big screen, she has been in “Unforgettable,” “The Wedding Ringer,” “Made of Honor,” and “The Ridiculous Six.” Notably, she’ll also be executive producing the much anticipated “Roseanne” reboot in 2018.

With all that in mind, her lineup for Saturday makes sense. It’s part standup comedy, part story-telling, part book tour with the aim of dissecting the adventures and struggles recounted in her upcoming book, “I’m Fine… and Other Lies.” Her press release claims that no topic will be off limits as Cummings will venture into stories about codependence, addiction, workaholism, dating narcissists and a medley of other dilemmas.

Combine that with her charm and “signature edge” and the show should be relatable, yet refreshing.

Whitney Cummings, 8 p.m., Friday, Foxwoods’ Fox Theater; $36-$46; 1-800-200-2882.
