Colorado Smashburger

As a recent addition to our relatively bereft franschise fast food scene, Smashburger seems to be resonating quite well. I've yet to go when there wasn't a line — and I've been several times because I like it a lot. A limited-time offer is responsible for my last three visits, and I'm dreading June 28, which is the last day for the "Colorado Smashburger" special. Topping the usual, juice-happy beef patty are oozing cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, lettuce, tomato and mayo and grilled green chiles on a spicy chipotle bun. As any resident of — or frequent sojourner to the Golden West — will tell you, green chiles make just about anything better. They are a gift to the world — and this magical burger will make you a sworn believer. Available in two sizes ($6.69 and $7.69). Go big.
