Hot Oil Pizza a winner at New London's Recovery Room

    The Recovery Room, New London

True fame comes with having a burger or pizza named after you — although I can understand why customers at the TV/movie star-happy Fritzankotter's Sandwiches in Huntington Beach, Calif., might get confused trying to decide between an "Ironsides" (genoa, blue cheese, bell peppers, French roll) and a "Sinatra" (genoa, mozzarella, bell peppers, French roll). Hmm. That's a fine line. No such confusion at the Recovery Room in New London, where fans should explore the two new Hot Oil Pizzas conjured magically by Chef Luigi & Staff. Option #1 is a spin on the menu's time-honored "Shirley's" — a blend of Parmesan, Romano and mozzarella taken to a new level with an infusion of red pepper-flaked olive oil. And option #2 is called "Casey's," where the spiced oil is layered on a Neapolitan-style pie garnished with Jack's sweet Italian fennel sausage. Each of these extremely great pies are a bargain at $13.95 — and it can only be a matter of time before Shirley, Casey and Jack are as famous as Sinatra.
