The organizers of last Saturday's Holiday Carnival at Olde Mistick Village have announced the winners of this year's Gingerbread House Contest. Members of the community voted for their favorites, and more than 500 votes were tallied for the results. Seventeen contestants, both amateur and professional, displayed their gingerbread house creations in businesses in Olde Mistick Village.

Awards in each category were as follows:

The Grand Prize winner, with the most votes regardless of category, was awarded to "Whoville and the Grinch" created by Bleu Squid Bakery & Cheese Shop.

First Place Individual and Family Category: "Candy Place" created by Jessica, Ashley and Michael Verno.

First Place Business and Community Group Category: "The Coliseum" created by Extra Virgin.

First Place Professional Category: "Gone Fishing" created by Go Fish Restaurant.
