    High school girls' basketball: Osborne, New London thump Ledyard

    New London — Charee Osborne had 16 points and 12 rebounds Friday as New London High School bounced Ledyard 65-38 in a girls' basketball game.

    The Whalers (12-2), ranked eighth in the New Haven Register state poll, led 25-22 at halftime before breaking the game open in the third, when they outscored the Colonels 26-4 to open a 51-26 after after three.

    India Pagan had 19 points and eight rebounds for New London (12-2) and Deanna McCarvell had 11 points, five assists and three steals.

    Michelle Klinikowski had nine points, five rebounds and four blocks for Ledyard (7-6).

    In other games:

    • Abby Stone had 21 points, eight steals and seven rebounds to lift Old Lyme past Coginchaug 53-45 in a Shoreline Conference game. Julia Strycharz added 10 points for Old Lyme (10-3, 10-2), which won its fifth straight.

    • Wheeler jumped out to a 22-7 lead after one quarter and went on to beat Lyman Memorial 54-35 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division game. Mackenzie Brayman and Lexi Gallucci scored 19 points each for Wheeler (5-7, 2-2), Kylie Baker had 14 rebounds and Brayman had six steals.

    • Hailey Conley had five 3-pointers and scored 28 points to lead sixth-ranked Norwich Free Academy past Waterford 58-32. Cebria Outlow had 16 points for the Wildcats (13-1), who pulled away in the third quarter thanks to an 18-6 run. Claire Hurley and Vanessa Kobyluck each had seven points for Waterford (8-4).

    • Margot Calmar had 18 points and 12 rebounds as Stonington downed East Lyme 61-32. Taty LaFrance Boyce had 10 points and six assists, Kate Hall scored 13 and Cameron Dreher scored 11 for the Bears (11-2). Hannah LeBeau had 25 points for East Lyme (2-10).

    • Abigail Poirier had 10 points as Tourtellotte edged St. Bernard 35-32 in the ECC Small. Kaitlyn Berkel had 15 points and 14 rebounds for St. Bernard (5-8, 2-2) and Caitlyn Dittman scored 11.

    • Melanie Rumbel and Jill Reynolds each had 14 points as Bacon Academy downed Montville 42-33. Kiah Strickland had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Montville (7-7).

    • Providence Country Day led 24-6 at halftime and went on to beat Williams School 36-21. Paola Vangjeli scored 12 points and had three steals and Claudia Pagnozzi-Schwam had eight rebounds for Williams (1-6).

    • Christina Harrison scored 12 as Vinal Tech beat Grasso Tech 35-26. Preonna Boyd-Cannon and Mariah Soldano each had seven points for Grasso.

    • Makayla Christian had 18 points as Windham Tech downed Norwich Tech 55-16. Marissa Shirshac had 17 points for Windham Tech. Madison Bodley scored seven for Norwich Tech.
