    H.S. roundup: Ognisty's 38 leads unbeaten Stonington golf team

    Stonington — Sam Ognisty shot a 38 on the Red Course at Elmridge Golf Course as the Stonington High School golf team remained unbeaten Monday with a 7-0 win over East Lyme.

    Will Cavaliere added a 39 and Peter Holliman a 41 for Stonington (7-0, 3-0), who finished with a medal score of 160. Ryan Tobin and Cristian Brown each shot 42 for East Lyme (5-4-1, 3-1).

    In other matches:

    • Graham Aird shot a 41 at Fenwick Golf Course in Old Saybrook to earn medalist honors and lead Old Lyme to a 176-197 win over Old Saybrook in the Shoreline Conference. Jack Berger added a 43 for the Wildcats (3-0) while Nick Sheehan shot a 45 for Old Saybrook (1-2).

    • Putnam defeated Grasso Tech 222-242 in a Constitution State Conference match at Pequot Golf Club. Hunter Brazee shot a 54 for Grasso and Ryan Smelser added a 58.

    • Parish Hill remained unbeaten with a 179-220 win over Norwich Tech in a CSC match at the Windham Club. Josh Ries shot the low round for Norwich Tech (3-3, 2-3) with a 46.

    Baseball 

    • Dan MacLean and Joey DiPietro combined for a two-hit shutout as Norwich Free Academy defeated Plainfield 3-0. Bryan Caisse had two hits, including a double, and an RBI for NFA (10-1).

    • Chase Hackett had two hits, including a double, with three RBI as Old Lyme downed the Hyde/Hillhouse co-op 9-5. Matt Przybysz had two hits, including a double, with two runs for Old Lyme (8-4) and Hunter Sheffield had two hits and scored twice. Also, Ross Golebiewski had three hits.

    • Killingly broke open a close game by scoring eight runs over the final two innings to defeat Ledyard 12-2. Anthony Viteritto went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Ledyard (7-4) while Branden Medina was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Lucas Saccone had a pair of singles.

    • Williams School, playing the final regular season game in program history, lost to Marianapolis Prep 20-1 in six innings. Jacob Parizo went 3-for-3 and singled in the only run for the Blues (3-7, 2-4), who will play in the SENE tournament next week.

    Boys' lacrosse

    • Kyle Ton had three goals and three assists and Logan Morin had three goals and an assist as NFA beat St. Bernard 14-2. Nick Jacaruso scored three times and Ben Thompson had two goals and an assist for NFA (6-2). Also, Cam Curland had a goal and two assists and Chris Ladyga added a goal and an assist. Nick Kane scored twice and Pat Brady had an assist for St. Bernard (0-9).

    • Pat Egan had four goals and three assists to lead Bacon Academy past Ledyard 15-9. Shawn LoVetere had three goals and an assist for Bacon (7-3). Shane Fors, Ian Foster and Nick Shultz each had two goals and an assist for Ledyard (4-6) and Matt Scahill scored twice.

    • Dylan Beaudoin and Nate Carney each scored four times as Sheehan downed Montville 12-5. Tyler Price had two goals and an assist, Kyle Marsh had a goal and two assists and Pat Caron scored twice for Montville (2-7).

    Girls' lacrosse

    • Julie Chabot had two goals and an assist and Leah Petrini and Megan Sturm each  scored twice as Waterford held on to beat Bacon Academy 10-8. Riley Dimmock had a goal and an assist and Ivanna Hugo had 12 saves for Waterford (6-3), which led 8-1 at halftime. Emily Armstrong had four goals for Bacon.

    • Cat Goss and Riley Musial each had six goals as Morgan beat St. Bernard 12-9. Christen Teskey had two goals and two assists for St. Bernard (4-6) and Shannon Amarello, Kara Bassett and Mia Londregan each scored twice.

    Crew

    • East Lyme's girls swept Stonington in all three varsity races Sunday at Mystic Seaport. The Vikings' varsity one boat of coxswain Bianca Barroga, Julia LeFurge, Ugne Kirvelivicius, Marissa Drobiak, Morgan Felkey, Gretchen Stelter, Michelle Saracovan, Uriya Simeon and Kristina Fenton finished in 6:03.9, nearly five seconds faster than Stonington's time of 6:08.7. In the boys' varsity one race, Stonington finished first, Fairfield Prep second and the East Lyme boat of Sushant Thomas, Kevin He, Nick Hahn, Clayton Cushing, Daniel Rubio, Veeti Niskanen, Josh LeFurge, Sam Mahoney and Matt LaRose placed third.
