    H.S. tennis roundup: Stonington girls' clinch a share of ECC title

    Stonington — Hannah Fabianski, Emily Gardiner, Taylor Startz and Charlotte Johnstone won their singles matches Wednesday as the Stonington High School girls' tennis team downed New London 7-0 to clinch at least a share of the Eastern Connecticut Conference Medium Division.

    The teams of Mallory McArdle-Claire Morehouse, Gina Feliciano-Morgan Parrilla and McKenzie Sadler-Jen Carroll won in doubles for the Bears (8-0, 6-0).

    New London is 4-5, 2-4.

    In other matches:

    • Kelly Peterec won a long No. 3 singles match, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, to lift East Lyme past Montville 4-3. Lisa Gao won at singles for East Lyme (4-3), which received doubles wins from the teams of Aimee Cicchello and Ravali Yenduri and Sejal Patel and Elisa Crane. Mia Ferguson and Lara Huapaya triumphed in singles for Montville (3-4) and Amanda Hester and Indigo Whisman won 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 in doubles.

    • Old Lyme didn't lose a set, beating East Hampton 7-0 in the Shoreline Conference. Meredith Aird, Emily Brault, Marissa Smith and Shannon Nosal won singles matches and the doubles teams of Hannah O'Brien-Keelin Hurtt, Cooper Kotzan-Kathleen Stedman and Holly Fiscus-Noel Brown also won for the Wildcats.

    • St. Bernard remained unbeaten with a 6-1 win over Fitch. Michaela Abate, Laura Frick, Wendy Bessette and Maddie Mahoney won their singles matches in straight sets for the Saints (7-0). Fitch fell to 5-3.

    • Norwich Free Academy dropped a 4-3 decision to Lyman Memorial. Kai Chen, Kaelan Greene and Lauren Jacobs won their singles matches for NFA (1-9).

    Boys

    • Fitch swept doubles play and beat St. Bernard 4-3. The teams of Matt Pastor-Bennett Tiesinga, Shiloh Feldmon-Alex Adrian and Kevin Ryan-Chris Russo won their matches and Eric Ostaszewski and Connor Brown won singles matches for Fitch (6-1). Alex Zuczek and Nick Zuczek won matches for St. Bernard (4-3).

    • Stonington swept doubles play, beating New London/Wheeler 6-1 in an ECC Medium Division match. The teams of Avish Patel-Chris Tsang, Ryan Sealey-Eric Gimple and Will Pereira-Pablo Lominchar won in straight sets and Avery Oefinger, Mitchell Edwards and Tristan Blaid won singles matches for the Bears (6-2, 4-2). Bahaa Hoda won at No. 2 singles for New London/Wheeler (2-6, 1-5).

    • Old Lyme swept East Hampton 7-0 in the Shoreline Conference behind singles wins from Brendan White, Charlie Dahlkie, Luke Grabowski, Jeff Zhang and Garret McCarthy.

    • Suryansh Patel, Nick Hotary and Ashwin Menon posted singles victories in East Lyme's 6-1 win over Montville. The No. 2 doubles team of Mukesh Kurumbail-Shahan Kamal didn't drop a game in its win for the Vikings (7-1). Montville's Gerald Aquino won at No. 3 singles. The Indians are 2-6.

    • Jack Potter, Sergio Moreno and Kenny Zhang won singles matches without dropping a game in Ledyard's 7-0 win over Windham. The No. 3 doubles duo of Sam Lahti and Alec DeAndrade posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory for the Colonels (3-5).

    • Williams School played two matches against St. Thomas More, winning by a combined 11-1 margin. Jon Powell, James Burris, Joe Reiser won once in singles and Apolline Jonckheere won twice for the Blues. Rong Sheng won at No. 3 singles for St. Thomas More.
