    H.S. basketball roundup: Unbeaten New London cruises into ECC girls' semis

    Norwich — Charee Osborne scored 25 points and had 20 rebounds as top-seeded New London beat No. 9 East Lyme 61-45 in the quarterfinals of the Eastern Connecticut Conference girls' basketball tournament on Saturday at Norwich Free Academy.

    Jada Lucas scored 14 points and Rosalee Nicholson had 11 rebounds for the Whalers (21-0), who play No. 4 Waterford in the semifinals on Wednesday at Plainfield High School at 6 p.m. Bacon Academy and Norwich Free Academy play in the other semifinal at 7:30.

    Maggy Powers had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Hannah LeBeau scored 11 and Megan Bauman had 10 points for East Lyme (9-13).

    In other games:

    • Vanessa Kobyluck and Shea Spellman scored 16 points each as No. 4 Waterford beat No. 5 Stonington 51-38. Mia Brennan scored 10 points, Kayla Jean-Pierre and Kobyluck had 12 rebounds each and Spellman had eight rebounds for Waterford (17-5), which beat Stonington for the third time this season. Taty LaFrance Boyce scored 24 points and Cameron Dreher had 15 rebounds for Stonington (14-8).

    • No. 2 Bacon Academy raced out to a 23-7 lead after one quarter and went on to beat No. 10 Fitch 66-30. Taylor Wolfgang led Fitch (10-12) with nine points. Liz Kowalsky had 16 points and Jocelyn Luizzi had 12 rebounds for Bacon (20-2).

    • No. 3 NFA led 21-3 after one quarter and went on to beat No. 6 Plainfield 63-34. Hailey Conley led NFA (19-3) with 21 points and teammates Cebria Outlow (18) and Mackenzie Burke (12) also scored in double figures. Julie Jordan led Plainfield (13-9) with 16 points.

    • Old Lyme was ousted from the Shoreline Conference tournament, losing to No. 3 Morgan 69-37 in a quarterfinal game. Sloane Sweitzer scored 12 points, had 10 rebounds and two steals for No. 6 Old Lyme (9-12). 

    Boys

    • Dev Ostrowski scored a game-high 24 points as East Lyme beat Southington 53-47 in a nonleague game. Mark Powers scored 10 for East Lyme (10-9).

    • Justice Farris scored 16 points and Eddie Volkerts had 30 points and 11 rebounds in Fitch's 71-62 nonleague loss to Notre Dame-West Haven.

    • Williams School lost to Marianapolis Prep on Friday, 66-28. Harrison Hall scored 12 points for Williams.
