Do the math, pipeline for Montville foolish

I find it rather insulting that Councilman Tim May and others are blatantly banking on the naivety of the Montville voter by claiming that the proposed $6.5 million water-line project will spur development and benefit the taxpayer on its way to the high school to supply drinking fountains. In particular they tout a 200-home development. Two hundred new homes valued at approximately $250,000 would generate $1 million dollars in tax revenue annually, which may sound great to those who think a trip to the transfer station is like Christmas and the only place to meet friends, but in reality those 200 homes will produce an average of 1.5 children per home or 300 total. The town's portion to educate these children is approximately $7,000 per student per year or $2.1 million a year, which equates to a $1.1 million annual loss to the taxpayer.

When you add to that the project cost, it doesn't make much sense, unless Councilman May and the others are as ignorant as they think Montville voters are, otherwise one can only guess what their real motivation is and who the real benefactors are.
