    Technological change has reader reeling

We live in a world of rapidly growing technology. What we grew up with and called fantasy has now come to fruition. We are now a cellphone society; gone are payphones on the corner replaced with texting every minute of the day. Video and security cameras watch us 24/7. Technical advances in cars lead to better gas mileage, but automotive repair now uses computers and what was once a repairman must now be a technician.

We want a smoke-free environment while our factories continue to poison our air. Where is the logic in fattening up state coffers from the taxes on cigarettes, then say you are trying to discourage smoking?

We fail to look forward and envision what affect all of the new technologies will have on us as a society. For every positive there is a negative that needs to be reasoned into the equation. I could go on, but someone is trying to contact me on a social network. Oh, for the good old days when we'd a least get up to answer the door.
