Sometimes government works, as East Lyme found

We had a very dry summer, and for the first time in years East Lyme did not have to restrict water usage. The connection to the New London reservoir worked just as intended.

Not enough notice is taken when our town governments and managers get things right. This was a complicated and lengthy project that required boards and officials from several towns, at least three state agencies, engineers, construction crews and the public to cooperate. Particular recognition and credit to now state Sen. Paul Formica and the Board of Selectmen in East Lyme for relentlessly pursuing a solution to the chronic summer water shortages.
