Buy a book help a charity

It was nice to the article, “Book Trader niche is selling gently used books,” (Jan. 24), about a local independent bookstore. I'd like to remind your readers of the non-profit Charity Bookshop whose proceeds benefit local families.

Charity Bookshop has been operated by the Groton Auxiliary of Child and Family Agency for the past 15 years. Manned by volunteers, the shop specializes in new and used hardcover and paperback books.

While the Groton auxiliary hosts several fundraisers each year, Charity Bookshop is a year round fundraiser that sends 100 percent of its receipts to Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut. The bookshop promotes reading by making good books available to local residents at incredibly low prices. Parents that might not otherwise be able to afford books, leave our shop with wonderful books for themselves and their children.

Located at 591 Poquonnock Road, Groton, the bookshop is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday, 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday and 2 to 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month.

Charity Bookshop welcomes donations of clean, gently used books. Those interested in joining the Groton Auxiliary should please visit us at the bookshop!
