I appreciated the important and informative article, “Thanks to Michael Phelps, interest growing in ancient practice of cupping,” (Aug. 21), on the efficacy of cupping and acupuncture. I happen to be a very satisfied patient of Dr. Hong Qi of the Hong Qi Acupuncture and Wellness Center. Both acupuncture and cupping have effectively treated my neurological and post-surgical orthopedic pain. I also know that acupuncture by Dr. Qi has helped my husband avoid surgery for a joint problem in his hand.

I highly recommend this medical approach for many such problems. It is relaxing, our health insurance pays for it and Dr. Qi is a truly kind and understanding expert in her professional practice.
