Seeking some relief from high water bills

The last Town Audit showed that the Montville Water Pollution Control Authority has almost $7 million in uncommitted funds. I suggest that it look into buying the water system sold to Southeastern Connecticut Water Authority (SCWA) as we Hillcrest residents are paying almost two to three times as much as the residents of other towns.

Here are the approximate costs for 7,500 gallons of water: New London $34.86; Waterford $38.85; Groton $52.31; Montville $51.11 and SCWA $99.21. The wells on site do not produce sufficient water for the 200 homes here. The town sold SCWA over 1.194 million gallons in the past seven months to make up for the shortage. In plain English, we are paying way too much for our water and it is only going to get worse.

Don't forget about our taxes going somewhere up into the stratosphere because of the revaluations and less from the state; so a little help from the town on the water issue would be greatly appreciated.
