Attack on Groton Rep. Conley unfair and mean spirited

A recent letter, "Injury or not, Conley missing vital meetings," was not only mean spirited, but also factually incorrect on the effectiveness and work ethic of first-term state Rep. Christine Conley.

The highly political partisan letter questioned her attendance, while knowing of her very serious injury. An injury that resulted in two surgeries, the need to navigate in a wheelchair, and doctor’s orders to stay home.

Yet, Conley, who often ignored her doctor’s plea, has regularly made trips to Hartford and has proven to be an effective advocate for her community. Just recently, while in a wheelchair with her leg in a fixed position pointed straight ahead, Conley hosted a meeting at the State Capitol with the governor’s budget staff and Rep. Joe de la Cruz to fight for Groton’s state funding for schools. It was a very positive, fruitful meeting that will benefit the people of Groton.

I understand the urge to take shots at an elected official of another party, but the implication of Rep. Conley not caring about the towns she represents or her responsibilities as a legislator is way out of line and needs to be called out.
