Just a word for David Collins about his column, “A heartening rally, in the time of Trump,” (May 18), full of accolades for the Trump protesters far outnumbering the Trump supporters at the Coast Guard Graduation ceremony. You fail to realize that many conservatives were forced to simply vote against the extreme socialism of Bernie Sanders and the scandalous investigations of the infamous Hillary Clinton. Conservatives respect the government system we have fought over the years to protect and secure, that of freedom and democracy.

No, we didn’t take to the streets at every opportunity to disrespect our then President Obama even though he went against everything we stand for. He was our president. Conservatives don’t riot and carry on with temper tantrums; we write to our representatives, attend town hall meetings and volunteer to get the work done ourselves to improve life rather than demand government do it for us.

It’s not always about what you want, sometimes it’s about what you don’t want. I’m assuming all who were out there were in support of socialism or a total corruption of values. Shame on you!
