Horse chestnut trees are not so rare

I was heartened to read how many people showed up for Maggie Redfern's recent tree walk in New London, “New London’s tree walk draws a large audience,” (May 21). However, I was surprised to see that she believes there is only one horse chestnut tree in the entire city of New London, the one on State Street. No fewer than 13 horse chestnuts line Jefferson Avenue along the cemetery, and there is a splendid horse chestnut in front of Michael's Dairy. Ms. Redfern really should explore the city a little further. I would be happy to take her.
