School safety in CT vs. TX

As a resident of Connecticut, I was so saddened by the children’s slaying in Sandy Hook. I have a perspective to offer regarding that horrendous event and the very recent school shooting in Texas.

My wife and I had just moved to Texas prior to the Sandy Hook event. A neighbor from our street came to our house concerned about how we were doing, knowing we were from Connecticut. A couple of years later, my wife had an occasion to visit an elementary nearby school and commented on the fact she could just walk in with absolutely no office registration or identification. It starkly publicized that the attitude of Governor Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Patrick, and Senator Cruz reflects their support of NRA.

This is a bold contrast to the fact that I have to identify myself outside a locked school entrance in Preston and be greeted by the school principal to enter. I was a bit put out at first as I was on staff in Preston schools but recognized the safety aspect that was followed with no exception for me. This compares Texas’ response Connecticut’s for me personally.
