Jerry Lamb to head SouthEastern CT Enterprise Region

The SouthEastern CT Enterprise Region held its Annual Meeting on Nov. 20 at the Holiday Inn in New London. At the breakfast meeting, Chairman Jerry Lamb reported on activities and accomplishments of the organization for the recently completed fiscal year 2014. Lamb noted that since its inception in 1993, seCTer has been consistent in programmatic content and delivery of services despite the significant changes in the economic climate that southeastern Connecticut has weathered. He thanked board members and staff for their hard work and welcomed two newly appointed board members: Rocco Cavalieri, General Dynamics/Electric Boat, and Thomas Kasprzak, Northeast Utilities.

Executive Director C. Stephen MacKenzie, who has been with seCTer for just over a year, shared his remarks about the process of re-establishing seCTer's role, image and prominence in the region. Treasurer, John "Bill" Sheehan reviewed the financial status.

Nominating Committee Chair Richard Erickson presented the members with a slate of new board members who were unanimously elected to fill a three-year term: David Hammond of Stonington; Thayne Hutchins, treasurer for Mohegan Tribal Council; Jerry Lamb, technical director of the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory; Mayor Ronald McDaniel of Montville; Naomi Otterness of Ledyard; Charles Seeman, president/CEO of United Community and Family Services; and Marjorie Valentin, associate dean of Workforce and Community Education at Three Rivers Community College.

At a board meeting following the annual meeting officers for the upcoming year were chosen: Jerry Lamb, chairman; Richard Erickson, vice chairman; John "Bill" Sheehan, treasurer, and Donna Simpson, secretary.

Following the business meeting, Alissa DeJonge, Vice President of Research at the Connecticut Economic Research Center, Inc. (CERC), presented an analysis of the status of the global, national and local economy. The complete presentation may be found on the seCTer web site, www.secter.org. The seCTer annual report for FY 2014 is also available on the organization's web site.
