Bank foundation donates to libraries

The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation has awarded grants totaling $3,500 to Slater Library in Jewett City and Voluntown Public Library.

The $2,500 Slater Library grant will be used to dedicate a reading room as a young adult section with four tablet devices and a tablet workstation. Funding also will be used for a permanent collection of classic literature.

Voluntown Public Library received a grant of $1,000 to enhance its history section and expand its museum pass program to include Old Sturbridge Village, the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center and an additional day pass for Connecticut state parks and forests.
