Skate for Babies fundraiser to be held Jan. 27

New London — Evan and Amy Cooper are holding their seventh annual Skate for Babies fundraiser to raise money for Alicia's Angels, a nonprofit that helps families who are experiencing the loss of an infant.

The family night of skating and raffles will be held on Jan. 27 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Connecticut College's Dayton Arena. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children, and rental skates are available for $5.

All of the proceeds benefit Alicia's Angels.

The Coopers' 9-year-old daughter Molly was born at 29 weeks and spent two months in the newborn intensive care unit. While she survived, the Coopers were inspired to help the families of those babies who don't.

The event has raised more than $90,000 since its inception in 2012, Evan Cooper said, and it drew 350 attendees last year.

Alicia's Angels was founded by Jona Sager in honor of her late daughter. Sager was one of Molly's intensive care nurses at Yale.
