Norwich Arts Center receives rebate for HVAC upgrade

Norwich — The Norwich Arts Center has received a utilities rebate totaling $9,250 from Norwich Public Utilities after an extensive upgrade to the heating, cooling and ventilation system at the art center building at 60-64 Broadway.

NPU and NAC partnered on the project through the utility’s Cool Choice program. Work was completed in early January.

“The NAC is such a special part of the growing arts community in Norwich, and we were delighted to work with them on this important project,” Fawn Walker, who oversees commercial efficiency programs for NPU, said in a news release announcing the rebate. “This project will help the NAC expand their offerings while saving money on their energy costs each month.”

In 2017, the NAC expressed an interest in upgrading the ventilation and cooling system to help accommodate more programs and events during the summer months.

After research and discussion with NPU, it was determined that the project would be eligible for a rebate through the utilities’ Cool Choice program, which promotes energy savings, lower cooling costs and a positive impact on the environment.

Rebates are available to NPU’s commercial, industrial, institutional, agricultural and residential electric customers to help defray the cost of buying high-efficiency HVAC systems.
