    Thames passing zone

    The Virginia-class attack submarine USS Colorado (SSN 788), escorted by the Thames Towboat Co. tug John P. Wronowski, passes the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Ida Lewis on Aids to Navigation (AToN) maintenance duty in the Thames River en route to the Navy submarine base in Groton Tuesday, November 20, 2018.

    USS Colorado is the 15th vessel in the class and was commissioned in March of this year.  

    The Ida Lewis, the first vessel in the 175-foot keeper-class of buoy tenders, is home-ported in Newport, Rhode Island with responsibility for the area from Cape Cod to Long Island Sound.
