Troy, N.Y. — The Connecticut Tigers ended their 2015 season on a losing note, dropping a 6-1 decision to the playoff-bound Tri-City ValleyCats in the New York-Penn League.

The Tigers finish 35-38 while Tri-City, the Stedler Division champion, finishes the regular-season 42-33 and begins the New York-Penn League playoffs on Wednesday against the Staten Island Yankees, winner of the McNamara Division. Williamsport will play West Virginia in the other semifinal series.

Connecticut scored its only run in the eighth on an RBI single by Tanner Donnels.

Jacob Kapstein had two hits for the Tigers, including a double, while Jack Fischer pitched well in relief, allowing just one run on two hits over the final three innings.
