    Local roundup: Tigers outlast Spinners 5-4

    Norwich — The Connecticut Tigers rode a four-run fourth inning to a 5-4 win over the Lowell Spinners in a New York-Penn League baseball game on Thursday night.

    The Tigers (8-6) tied the game at 1-1 on Joey Havrilak's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third inning. Anthony Pereira's two-run double started the scoring in the fourth, Will Savage added a sacrifice fly and Blaise Salter capped the scoring with an RBI single. Josh Lester singled and had a pair of doubles and Cole Bauml was 3-for-4 for the Tigers.

    Yordy Cabrera (1-0) got the win in relief, pitching two scoreless innings with five strikeouts and one walk. Eduardo Jimenez earned his third save for a scoreless ninth. 

    SEC 16-18 Babe Ruth

    • Kyle Ayers went the distance and struck out eight as East Lyme Maroon beat Waterford Blue 1-0. John Keens singled home the run for East Lyme (3-2) and Frank Zawacki doubled for Waterford (3-2).

    District 10 baseball (10-11)

    • Rhodia Perry V struck out six over 4.2 innings for the win as New London beat Lyme/Old Lyme 14-4 on Wednesday night. Anthony Martinez hit a grand slam and scored twice and Randy Vidal had three hits and scored four runs for New London. Lyme/Old Lyme pitcher Jonah Lathrop struck out three in the first two innings.
