Norwich — Norwich Free Academy's nine-member Class of 2018 will be inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday at 6 p.m. in the Slater Auditorium.

A reception will follow in the Atrium, where the honorees will be able to walk through NFA's new Hall of Fame hallway. There ceremony is free and all former teammates, players and friends are welcome to attend.

The following are members of NFA's Class of 2018:

James Justice (Class of 1973): Earned 12 varsity letters (football, basketball, baseball, track) and was all-state in football and track).

Gary Makowicki (1973): Was captain of the 1972-73 basketball team, then served 12 years as a basketball assistant, was head girls' track coach for 23 years (winning 10 state titles) and served as athletic director for 22 years, earning the 2015 National AD of the Year honors.

Michael DeLucia (1983): A member of the track and field teams, going unbeaten in dual meets in the pole vault during his career and earning all-state honors in the pole vault.

Jayne Ledoux Rice (1984): Won State Open all-around gymnastics championship as a junior, captured Class LL titles in the vault and all-around, and was member of outdoor track and field team that went 10-0 and placed second in the state.

Robert Larkham (1985): Was NFA's first State Open wrestling champion (1985) when he went 17-0. Was also a two-time Class LL state champion (1984, 1985).

Joey Kochanski Foo (1999): Capped a tremendous gymnastics career by winning the 1999 New England all-around championship. Was a four-time Class LL all-around state champion, a three-time State Open all-around state champion, a four-time all-state pick and three-time All-New England choice.

Christopher Andrew (2000): Earned 12 varsity letters (cross country, indoor and outdoor track), winning the 1999 Class LL and State Open cross country championships. Was a three-time all-state pick in cross country, a two-time all-state pick in track, a two-time All-New England pick in cross country and an All-New England pick in track.

Krista Rappahahn Birnie (2002): A four-year starter in girls' basketball. Was the leading scorer and rebounder as freshman, while leading the Wildcats to a 27-0 record and the 2001 Class LL state title and finishing with 2,048 career points, including 1,048 as a senior.

J.J. Justice (2004): Was a four-year varsity starter in football and a three-year varsity performer in track. Was a two-time all-state pick in football and was named to the 2003 All-American team. Won Class LL and State Open javelin titles twice and helped NFA win its first State Open outdoor track title in 2004.

H.S. girls' soccer

• Kendra Gregg converted a free kick from 25 outs out just two minutes into the first sudden death overtime period to give Waterford a 1-0 victory over Killingly in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II match. The Lancers (5-5, 2-3) held a 10-8 edge in shots and goalie Mya Rheaume made six saves to earn the shutout.

H.S. field hockey

• Mandy Beck had a goal and an assist to lead Old Saybrook to a 2-1 non-conference win over Waterford. Cassidy Susi, assisted by Molly Quiles, scored in the second half for the Lancers (4-5) and goalie Nini Yangga finished with 12 saves.

H.S. volleyball

• Waterford completed a perfect ECC Division II season with a 3-1 victory over Bacon Academy. Game scores were 25-17, 23-25, 25-21 and 25-21. Gretchen Dusza had seven aces and 35 assists for the Lancers (12-2, 6-0) while Ryleigh Gonyo and Rachel Miller had 10 kills apiece and Jenny Keth added 22 digs.

College volleyball

• Cameron Childs had 22 assists to highlight Mitchell College's 25-12, 25-7 and 25-11 win over Pine Manor. Ariana Carter and Laurissa Amaker added nine kills apiece for the Mariners (2-12).
