East Lyme - Town police have announced road closures for Saturday's 26th annual Niantic Light Parade. The parade will begin at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday and last for about two hours.

Route 156, from its intersection with Black Point Road, east to its intersection with Route 161, will be closed at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. A short distance of Route 161 - from Route 156 to Grand Street - will also be closed to vehicles. Columbus and Haigh avenues will be closed to all but residential traffic at 3 p.m. No parking will be allowed on the parade route beginning at approximately 2 p.m.

Traffic will be detoured north onto East Pattagansett Road, and then east onto Hope Street. Traffic will then continue onto Route 161.

Town police will direct traffic, with assistance from traffic barricades, detour signs, bicycle officers and police explorers. Roads will open after the parade. The rain date for the parade is Sunday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m.
