Standing around in Ledyard

A woman was injured late Sunday afternoon when the car she was driving struck and snapped a utility pole on Center Groton Road in Ledyard and landed in the vertical position on its front end. She had to be extricated from her car and was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London after the 4:25 p.m. crash just north of the intersection with Sandy Hollow Road. Emergency personnel on the scene described her injuries as non life-threatening.
