Power restored to some areas while others remain in dark

Montville, East Lyme and Groton remained among the towns with a significant number of power outages this evening, as the number of homes in the dark in other towns continues to drop.

High winds had knocked down tree limbs, and in some cases utility poles, across New London County.

At 8:45 p.m., Eversource Energy reported 127 homes without power in Groton, 484 in East Lyme and 373 in Montville.

At 5 p.m., there were 1,504 customers in Montville without power, the town hardest hit.

The fire and police departments were called out earlier this afternoon for reports of a tree in the roadway in the area of 1386 Old Colchester Road. A portion of Route 163 was closed at 5:45 p.m. with repairs to power lines ongoing.

The number of home reported without power in Groton and East Lyme has not changed significantly since at least 5 p.m. Portions of both Grassy Hill and Roxbury roads in East Lyme were reported closed earlier this evening because of trees and wires down.

Many homes in Ledyard have regained power since this afternoon though there are still Eversource customers in Ledyard, Stonington and North Stonington still waiting.
